I didn't exactly "overlook" or "avoid" J. Roddy Walston & The Business this year. I'd heard tracks here and there and was well aware of their existence, but didn't pick up their debut self-titled album until a few weeks back. It's an explosion of energy and catchy as all hell.

I admit I have not heard a ton of 2010 releases this year. However, I did not lack for quality music that I repeatedly listened to, that I personally connected with, and that will stick with me long after this year has passed. Here are my top 5 – with a song from each to sample (generally track 1's because these albums all start strong).
For better or worse, my listening habits for new music lately have tended to be more song-based than album-based. So today I would like to highlight some of the songs that really stuck with me throughout 2010. This is not complete list of favorites exactly – I chose not to include any songs found on my upcoming favorite albums list or ones that I have covered on the blog in the past months.
Instead, what follows is a list of songs that found enjoyable as well as interesting, memorable, underappreciated, or some combination thereof, which I wanted to share with you all as the year comes to a close.
