E.M.P Collective: and you're just not good enough

The E.M.P Collective is a non-profit multi-media ensemble of original film, theatre, and music. They are a passionate, visceral ensemble, and they are at it again.

This years production, "and you're just not good enough…" will be staged at the Fridge in Washington DC Feb 10-12 @ 8pm. This multi-media event explores the pain, hilarity, love, joy, and general awkwardness of rejection through film, theatre and music.

Furthermore, it features the musical duo of yours truly on guitar and vocal harmony alongside my duo partner Norm Sherman of the fantastic speculative fiction podcast The Drabblecast

Aloe Blacc – You Make Me Smile/Use Me (Takeaway Show)

I don't want to alarm you, but Aloe Blacc covered Bill Withers. If you've ever read our little blog here, you'll know we're huge fans of both soul artists, so this is a monumental occasion for us. "Use Me" is a top 20 all-time song for me and has very special meaning for several of us Digsters. Aloe and the Grand Scheme performed these tunes for the always brilliant La Blogoteque.  Everything is pitch perfect. The band busking in a Paris subway, Aloe's totally laid back demeanor, the cover of BILL FUCKING WITHERS. It's worth your time to watch this all, and it's the perfect pick me up for the down-low blues.

Nostalgia 77 – Simmer Down (Feat. Josa Piat)

Here's a little gem I've come across. Nostalgia 77 is the producer Benedic Lamdin and his fourth album, The Sleepwalking Society is due out March 21st. "Simmerdown" is a jazzy little tune that's part Medeski, Martin, and Wood, part Amon Tobin, and part Ella. Strut your stuff to this one. Regular, frequent blogging will return when all of us Digsters get our lives back in order.

Snoop Sings Superbowl Songs

This will be short but sweet. I have two sporting events to watch, spicy ranch chicken wings to cook, a website to code, and, hopefully, the Packers victory party to attend…. right? So Snoop is at it again. This time in a promo spot produced by Greenpoint Pictures out of Brooklyn, NY. Very cool camera work, and a half decent track performed by Senor Dogg. I know it's corporate promotional material, but I'm a sucker for topical rap, sue me.

Now, I am a Packers fan, but I can say with 100% certainty that this is better than J-Byrd's Green and Yellow. Check that one out after the jump if you have yet to see it. Spoiler Alert: It's terrible.

Said The Whale – Camilo (The Magician)

Running a bit low on time today since I have to go immerse myself in the babyfest that is my niece's first birthday party. Instead of a proper post I'm going to poach a great band and video from Tsururadio that I've been listening to a bunch since Aaron posted it last week. Vancouver based Said The Whale make straightforward jams to rock out with your…well, you know the rest.
