Our friends in Beat Radio and a whole bunch of other great musicians have come together to create a benefit record for their friend & fellow musician Will Stratton. Check out some awesome music for an important cause.
I think I'm going to let the artists behind this project speak for this one:
"Will Stratton is a champion of independent music. His work is challenging, virtuosic, beautiful, and brave. We recognize him as one of our own, forging his way as an artist through the hazy post-millennial daze of a million bands all playing at the same time. In this context, Will’s quiet, emotionally complex songs feel heroic.
Will Stratton was diagnosed with stage III testicular cancer last September, and has spent the better part of the last year fighting his way back to recovery. He’s hard at work on a new record, which we all can’t wait to hear. It’s been an honor and a privilege to be able to contribute to and help usher along this benefit compilation. The love and enthusiasm all the artists have put into the project has been totally inspiring. We hope you enjoy the music. All proceeds go directly to Will. We’re hoping to help him deal with some of the medical bills from his treatment, and get him back on his feet as soon as possible.
Brian Sendrowitz and Maia Macdonald"
I wasn't familiar with Will or his music until only very recently, but I think it's very inspiring to know that he has so much support. I'm glad to have spent time with his music and it seems that this collection does a great job of celebrating it while still offering a variety of interesting angles. You should really consider buying this benefit album, but why not also consider picking up some of Will's music, too? Follow the bandcamp links or just click here for the Benefit and here for Will's page.
