Good morning, Dig Nation! It is my pleasure to announce our third NYC showcase and fifth overall, featuring the bands Beat Radio, Hey Anna, and The Pine Hollows. It goes down in two weeks on March 22nd at Muchmore's, the great DIY spot in Williamsburg we first began this whole live initiative.
The doors will open at 8:00, bands will start around 9:00 and it will be free and all ages. RSVP on Facebook here. Our official gig poster comes from James Rudy and another exciting thing is that you will be able to hear all three of these bands in our next podcast episode, which will be released right around the show. Beat Radio just released a fantastic album called Hard Times, Go! and has an indie rock sound that blends a lot of threads into beautiful textures. It's literate and heartfelt and stems from two Brians: Brian Sendrowitz and Brian Ver Straten. They have been subject to several blog posts here on the Dig and even contributed an all-time top five list. Check out their latest single "Dreaming Wide Awake," which owes more to Robyn than you might think.
Hey Anna has an impressive, self-titled debut EP that clearly points to them being a band that will make special music for a long time to come. They are three sisters and two best friends. Tightly crafted and full of harmonies, listeners can really get sense of the strong ties between the members through their indie pop tunes. We've shared "Blackout," so check out the super catchy "Love Love Baby."
The Pine Hollows may be young, but they certainly have an excellent grasp on their rock & pop history. This three-piece driven by the writing of singer/guitarist Gianni Napolitano is coming fresh off the release of their impressive second album Something My Heart Understands. It's full of gems that demonstrate a love of vintage music filtered through the exuberance of young talent. Watch the wonderful video for the album's first single "How Can You Tell Her?"
