Townes Van Zandt – Be Here To Love Me

Yesterday I watched the documentary about Townes Van Zandt entitled: Be Here To Love Me.

Townes was an American singer-songwriter and ultimately a tragic figure. He lived from 1944-1997 and struggled with manic-depression and drug addition. Unfortunately, he never achieved popular success within his own life despite his devoted (but small) fan base, and glowing praise from other established artists.

In spite of this, you have probably heard Townes Van Zandt through the lens of artists such as Norah Jones, Tom Waits, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, and Bob Dylan, to name a few. The documentary can be seen in its entirety here, and I recommend that you do. In addition, here is a performance of Pancho and Lefty from Townes himself.
