The Shrine of Dig

The Shrine of Dig represents music that has made indelible impressions on our lives, both musically and personally. We plan to enshrine works and artists that stand out for any number of special reasons, from those glorious moments we first heard something captivating and new, through the continuous impacts of the music upon our lives. The induction ceremony involves multiple posts where we will both explore and pay tribute to the words and sounds which have been so important to us. In doing so, we share with you some music we believe is damn near infallible and absolutely worth listening to. View all

The three core Dig writers have known each other for a long time. A good portion of our musical taste and development has always been shared. That means that there is a large collection of artists, bands, albums, songs, and videos that have made huge and irreversible impressions on our personal and musical lives. To honor these artists, we're beginning the Shrine of Dig. Inductions will sometimes come in weeklong, collaborative bursts or occasionally independently. We're very honored to have as our first inductee a band that was essential to our musical maturity, Pavement.

The Shrine has a mission statement of sorts that you'll see before every post:

We hope that some of our Shrine selections will be part of your own personal canon, and that some will be first-time introductions.

So enjoy our musings on all things Pavement this week.
