Show Picks This Weekend 6/28 and 6/29

Looking for some shows this weekend? If so, Friday night, you can check out our good friends Beat Radio at Pete's Candy Store. The Brian's will play at 9:00 along with Radiator King, Fax Holiday, and Charles Mansfield. The band was awesome at our third TWD NYC show back in March and has an excellent album out recently called Hard Times, Go! They also were part of the Will Stratton benefit. More on that here, and check out their version of "You Divers" below.

On Saturday, Balto plays at Rockwood Music Hall at 6:00 on Stage 2. This is a band from the soon-to-be new home of my brother in dig Dave, Portland, OR (details on his upcoming cross country move and playlist making here). Their most recent output is the very strong EP Monuments. Have a listen to the title track, which closes out the EP.

Later that night, also at Pete's Candy Store, another good friend of the Dig, Oh! My Blackbird, take the stage at 10:00 for the release of their new EP Violet. I have seen the band several times – including a memorable set at the very first TWD presents show – and they are incredible. The musicianship and vocal interplay is so strong live. I'll have a review of the EP up tomorrow, so make sure to come back for that, but you can check out the single "It's Not That I Still Love You (Cause I Don't)" below in the mean time. Also on the bill at 9:00 will be Kyle from Echo Bloom, who I've never seen but just met and am looking forward to checking out.
