I'm a newcomer to the PJ Harvey fanclub, but after hearing the track "Written On The Forehead" from her forthcoming LP, Let England Shake, I'm a believer.
The track starts out all repetitive reverb and high-range vocals, but give it 45 seconds to heat up and you won't be disappointed. Out of left field reggae guitars and vocal samples peak their heads through the washed out background sounds while tambourines and hand drums keep the beat. It's really a thing of beauty and a great tune to unwind to after the shite day I just had.
PJ Harvey will release Let England Shake on February 15 on Vagrant Records. It was recorded in a 19th century church in Dorset and promises to be an early favorite album of 2011.
