Dave is holding it down with another great show in Baltimore this week with the Ballroom Thieves, but there is plenty going on in New York City, too. Here are some show picks for the weekend.
Where to begin? How about with friend of the Dig, Cultfever? There's a lot of exciting things happening for this great band. They are about to release a brand new 7" record for their track "Animals" (paired with "Chicken"). You can pre-order the limited edition orange vinyl for $10 here. The song is great. It pulses with electric energy and might be their most danceable track yet. Tamara continues to be an amazing singer and Joe is a fine craftsman of engrossing soundscapes and has a nice guitar solo.
Saturday night, they will release the record at their show at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Not only that, but they are playing with AVAN LAVA, who we recently included in a Weekly Roundup with an amazing video. Throw in DJ sets by Nomi Ruiz and Rewards and you've got yourself a show! Doors at 8:00, show at 9:00. Tickets are $10 advance here or $12 at the door. Check out another great video from AVAN LAVA for "Feels Good." Both bands head to SXSW after.
Another friend of the Dig playing this weekend is David Pollack. He performs tonight at the Tea Lounge for free at 9:00. Saturday night he'll be playing at the Ella Lounge, also at 9:00, and you can get your $5 tickets here. The bill includes Marc C. Cancassi, Bea Ra, and The Roads.
I recently shared the awesome video for "Islands" by Isle of Rhodes. They play tonight at The Rock Shop with The Ugly Club, The Highway, and Social Hero. It's $8 advance – tickets here – or $10 at the door. Show starts at 8:00. They will head out on the road from this show, so go see them. Here's the video again:

Another previously featured artist with a cool video who plays tomorrow is then embarks on a tour from there is sami.the.great. She plays at Glasslands along with a solo set by Bonaparte and Bird Courage. Tickets here for $10 and the show begins at 8:30. We've had "Hear Me Now" on here, how about "Dresser Drawer" this time?
The last show we're going to share for Friday is a brand new band crush distance. This band has most of the members of what used to be Kid Savant who made some memorable videos we've shared. They make their live NYC debut tonight at Cameo Gallery at 8:00. Also playing are Sonic China Doll, Indian Rebound, and Lucas Bros. Tickets for $7 here, or $10 at the door. Check out their lead single, "The Comfort," which is a free download to 3/2.
Finally, on Saturday night you can also check out a bill of some very talented women at The Mercury Lounge, including Dig-featured artist Celeste. It's going to be her first performance as Celeste, so another debut you don't want to miss. She shares a bill with Kendra Morris and Kimberly Nichole. The show starts at 10:00 and costs $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Here's Celeste latest track "Looking For You," which takes the instrumental "Colour & Movement" by Ryan Hemsworth.
