Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. – Morning Thought
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. have released the, "Morning Thought", the first single from their forthcoming album It's A Corporate World. It's one of those tracks that gives you chills before you even begin to wade through it's complex soundscape. More, please.
I love tracks that can grab you sentimentally from the get go, based on sound alone. On first listen, the song immediately meant something to me. It became something personal and touched on something unshared – and I hadn't even properly tackled the lyrical content yet. Plus, that little riff in the middle during the chords kind of destroys me. I'm not sure why this happens, but it's a beautiful part of music that a conglomeration of sounds can emotionally strike you so quickly.
Technically, "Morning Thought" is a bit clearer and more directed than the songs off of their Horse Power EP (which I also liked). It mostly does away with their more psychedelic leanings and ramps down the reverb a bit. It's an anthemic track with heavy, banging drums and agressively bashed guitar chords.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. have really carved a distinct sound and with songs so filled with identifiable sentiment and strong songwriting, they're bound for great things. It's A Corporate World drops June 7th.
