After a much-too-long hiatus, Zach Condon and crew have released a new song that will be featured on a limited 7". "East Harlem" is a jubilant, piano led folk song, buoyed as always by Condon's gorgeous vocal work.
Beirut's repetoire will always hold a special place in my heart. It's the type of music that draws emotions out of you no matter what state or setting you listen in. Condon is a magic maker and a particularly enthralling performer. I'm glad to hear that he hasn't pushed for too much expansion and evolution in Beirut's sound – why screw up a grea thing? Instead, "East Harlem" works on all Beirut's strengths while throwing in just enough originality to make it sound fresh.
Hopefully we get news of an LP soon, but if not, you can get your fill on Beirut's current world tour.
