A new month brings a new Lupe Fiasco track – the second one dropped from his upcoming album, Lasers. I'm a huge Lupe guy, I've listened to both his albums a brazillion times so the 4 years and massively stupid label battles since The Cool have been frustrating. Those Who Dig loved Eric & Magill's lush 2010 album, All Those I Know. We're more than a little excited that they've partnered up with Ten Atom Records and begun a Kickstarter campaign to get the album pressed on vinyl. The maestro Reid Anderson is a jazz bassist and composer. He may be best know for his work with the trio, The Bad Plus, however, his solo work is nothing short of inspired and refreshing.
His 1997 quartet release, Dirty Showtunes, is one of my favorite contemporary jazz records and is a breath of fresh air. Upon hearing this album I felt that same way I did when I heard Thelonious Monk play for the first time. The style was immediately defined and it took no longer than a minute to know that I could spend my life with this music and never grow tired of its sound.
