Simple is Good: Philip Glass

Philip Glass is an American composer of prolific stature and influence. I don't want to bog down this piece with commentary about theory or history, so I'll keep it simple.

Philip Glass writes music that is worth hearing. It is accessible, evocative, and interesting. It is also repetitive, but that's half the point.

The Soft Collapse

The Soft Collapse is the duo of Ryan Montgomery and Dave Teufel on acoustic guitar and cello, respectively. Their simple, heartfelt music has drawn me in for repeated listens and I wanted to share with you my favorite track from their latest album, Little Songs.

Love in the Asylum – Pull The Plug

It's only 1:14 p.m. and it's already been a hell of a day. I got confirmation of a big interview for us here at Those Who Dig yesterday, and I'm still on a high from that. I'll spare you the details, but the great news keeps flowing today. In honor of this awesome mood I needed a catchy, upbeat song. Thank you, Love in the Asylum.

The Blogger Lowdown w/ TSURURADIO

The Blogger Lowdown is a feature where we ask the good people who run our favorite, essential blogs to give some insight on themselves and their sites. There are some great resources for discovering all kinds of music on the interwebs and our hope is to introduce you to a few of these outlets and the people behind them. Today's installment features Tsuru himself – Aaron of Tsururadio.

Beat Radio

Let's start this one by saying that one of my New Year's Resolutions is to stop procrastinating on posting awesome stuff. I often hear really good music that I put off writing about so I can spend more and more time with it, and then end up never actually writing. That ends here with Beat Radio.

New Madvillain Tuneage

The untouchable Madvillain duo (MF Doom and Madlib) have been teasing the release of their new album for seemingly forever. They dropped the first single "Papermill" all the way back in April and another one (or is it two?) just popped up.

Episodes in Virtuosity: Maria Jo

Maria João Pires is a juggernaut of classical piano performance.

Her long and illustrious career began at age 7 and boasts competition wins, a staggering amount of repertoire conquered, world wide tours, and collaboration with some of the most esteemed artists on the planet.

Although her hands are capable of handling any and all compositions, today's Episodes in Virtuosity focus's on her recording of Chopin's Waltz Opus 64 Number 1.
